Dirden Tabbed TL Player of the Week

CORPUS CHRISTI – Hooks outfielder Justin Dirden is the Texas Player of the Week for July 25-31, Minor League Baseball announced Monday.

Dirden recorded 11 hits in 19 at-bats for a .579 average last week in Amarillo, cracking two doubles and two home runs while driving in four. He scored six times and worked three walks against four strikeouts.

Dirden, tied for the Texas League lead with a .323 batting average and 68 RBIs, also paces the circuit in total bases (199), extra-base hits (52) and doubles (30). The 24-year-old standout from St. Louis is tied for second in the loop in hits (107), ranks third in OPS (1.010), and fifth with 18 home runs.

Dirden enters play Tuesday with a .527 batting average in his last 14 games. During this span, the left-handed slugger has racked up 17 runs, eight doubles, a triple, five home runs, 16 RBIs and seven walks.

Right-handed pitcher Jimmy Endersby (June 20-26) and infielder Enmanuel Valdez (May 16-22) join Dirden as 2022 Hooks to take home a Texas League weekly award. Valdez was also named the circuit’s top hitter in May.
