It’s been a rough school year for 9-year-old Avery Pacheco. She was diagnosed with leukemia at the end of August. In order to help her recovery, she’s been out of the classroom, but participating at home with a special interactive robot in the classroom.
Avery’s classmates miss her dearly and wanted to honor and celebrate her, so they launched a toy drive.
The response was overwhelming.
Students in all grades at Castle Hills Elementary in Lewisville, Texas, stepped up and donated more than 1,500 toys – which were delivered to Children's Medical Center Dallas, where Avery gets her care.
Avery’s classmates also had T-shirts with the words “Team Bravery” printed on them to show how proud they are to know Avery and how much they want her to return.
